April Fools this flight goes to Paris

March 31 and April 1st 2018 blended into a long day home. It started early, I was up at about 5 and walked to the ocean side of our resort to get a couple of pictures at sunrise.  I may have been the only hotel guest up at that time.  A couple of the staff looked twice as they saw me walking through the resort.

Sunrise over the South Pacific

Here is another view

A great view to start the day.

I got back to our bungalow and enjoyed a Coke as the sun continued to rise.  It was another beautiful day in paradise.

The sun is starting to light up Bora Bora.

Everyone eventually got up and we headed to the restaurant for one final brunch.  It was great.  Pancakes, bacon, fruit, apple turnovers and tropical fruit juice. It was all delicious. Grace may have eaten 2 pounds of cocoa krispies at breakfast.

From there it was back to the bungalow to pack.  I got one last jump into the Pacific and then we packed up our gear for a ferry to the airport.

Out of the sun.  Everybody is smiling for now.

One last selfie before we go.

Ohhh no they are here to get us. Hide.

The staff helped check us out and got us to the dock on time. We waited a little bit for the ferry. Probably just enough to make us anxious about whether on not we would make our flight to Tahiti.

Nobody else wants to sit on the left side of the boat with those people.

It eventually came and got us to the airport on time.  We checked in and I made time for these pictures

I thought this was pretty cool.

I couldn’t resist.  Goodbye Bora Bora.

From Bora Bora we flew to Tahiti and landed in Papeete.  From here we stopped at the Intercontinental Tahiti.  We had a day pass to stay here until 9:15pm before we needed to go to the airport.  Ashley and Katie kicked it in the room for a little bit.  Kari, Gracie and I explored the resort and eventually settled in the Tiki Bar for some beers and a couple of appetizers.  Katie and Ashley eventually came down to hang out as well.

We watched the sunset for our room.  A classic Tahitian sunset, reds, pinks, greens, oranges and yellows it was amazing.  Kari probably took the best picture of us all.

Here is my best effort.  Tahitian sunset #1

Kari killing it with this photo.

We went to dinner seated at 7.  Eventually we received our drinks at 7:30.  At 8 we still hadn’t seen any food and we had hardly seen our waiter.  After a couple of tense conversations the girls at least got their food.  Kari and I left without ever getting dinner.  My blood was boiling.  I was so mad because the service was so out of character from any other place on this trip.

They did get me a beer

At 9:15 we headed to the airport.  Check in was smooth and everything appeared to be going as planned.  That was until the girls saw the departure board for our flight TN 8 and it was going to Paris.  They were convinced Kari and I had booked us on the wrong flight and we were somehow going to Paris and not home.  I think Kari and I needed at least 3 airline people to reassure the girls that the plane was actually going to LA first.  Gracie threatened to cut up our boarding pass with her scissors if we didn’t convince her the flight was stopping in LA.  Finally on the plane and heading home.  We all got at least a  little sleep.  Ashley survived sitting by a stranger on the plane and we landed in LA without issue.

We slipped through customs and TSA.  Gracie had slipped the scissors into her mom’s bag this time.  If TSA was taking anyone down it wouldn’t be her.

We are back in the USA.

After this picture, we destroyed Shake Shack.  3 burgers, 3 shakes and 2 pounds of fries.  After that we milled around until or flight back to MSP.  That flight was smooth and so was the Uber ride home.  By 10:39 the suitcase were emptied and Molly was running around with the girls ❤️
