We had a pleasant surprise at MSP, when we ran into a large group of our friends also leaving town to see their children studying abroad.
CP, Shanny, COC, Dev, Saw, Kari and G all ready for adventure. So much fun seeing them before we all take of around the world.
Our 14 hour flight from LAX was uneventful. We enjoyed some chicken noodle soup at the LAX Delta lounge and I filled a small pouch in my backpack with sour apple laughy Taffy and salt water taffy. The beautiful little snacks and some protein bars made for a smooth flight. No real issue on the flight, Grace watched every lion related movie made in Hollywood in the last 5 years.
We arrived in Sydney at around 8 AM. After clearing customs, passport control and finding our driver, we finally arrived at the Intercontinental Sydney. This is a fantastic hotel down near the Opera House. We crashed in the early arrival lounge, grabbed some showers and a change of clothes. Then we patiently waited for…..
Katie to arrive!!!!!
Katie and Grace in the Treasury at the Intercontinental Sydney.
We planned an afternoon food tour with our friend Ellie. Ellie showed us around last time as well. She loves the food scene in Sydney and I thought Grace and Kari would love spending time with her as well.
Back at the Fish Market. A new crew of adventurous eaters?!?!
Tuna Tacos???
Sushi Donut?? Is that really a thing.
Important drink decisions are happening
I for one am questioning this sign since this blog is 2 days behind.
The selections: tuna taco, crab legs, Sydney Rock Oysters and mixed sushi boxes
Tuna Taco, was surprisingly good the fries shell was so light and crispy
Sydney Rock Oysters, all you need is a little lemon juice.
Gracie is all smiles at the fish market but has she tried her Sydney Rock Oyster yet??
Fish Market Feast with the Family.
The girls on the streets of Sydney.
Cheers from Australia π¦πΊ!!!
Late lunch at Mishy’s for a creative take on traditional Australian food.
Fig, Beet salad with pistachios and ricotta cheese. This was a banger!!!!
Kangaroo empanadas. Kangaroo tail, potatoes and tomato sauce. The shells were so light and crisp. Grace almost passed out they were so good!
Zucchini flowers, stuffed with goat cheese, fried and drizzled with honey.
Squid on a bed of Kohlrabi with a fermented pomegranate sauce.
Gnocchi with 2 types of mushrooms and a light peanut sauce.
The girls with the creator of all this magical food, Mishy. The passion she has for cooking and hospitality oozes out of her when you talk about her food and her restaurant. If you are in the Surrey Hill neighborhood of Sydney. You are missing out if you don’t stop in.
The menu on the wall at Mishy’s
Street art for Ashley.
Also trying to show Grace alternative life choice.
Lord Nelson’s to finish with a flight of beers.
This decision was not in the best interest of the blog
Strong Ale, Quayle’s Summer Ale, Tafalagar British Ale, 3 sheets Pale Ale. When you’re not tired enough from the jet lag, here is your sign.
Ellie and the girls back at the Intercontinental. Another fabulous day exploring the delicacies of Sydney. Just like hanging with and old friend.
Katie’s apartment at Bondi Junction. Nicer than I thought.
From Katie’s apartment we took the bus to Salty’s for dinner. Dinner was mostly salty bar snacks and a beer then it was time for an Uber and bed. That is not an exaggeration it was Uber, up the elevator and then bed.
Tomorrow hopefully the team will be reset and we can have a quintessential day in Sydney.
