Once your at the airport where do you go? The only answer for my team is......STARBUCKS. Finally we made it to the gate where we waited for our flight to......Dallas. Yes, nothing like flying to Hawaii from Dallas. That plane needs WiFi and probably some beer.

After getting our rental, we proceeded to drive across the Big Island. It was amazing how the landscape changed. Oceans and beaches gave way to high plains and pines, cool mountains, tropical rainforest and back to beaches and oceans. It was truely amazing
Ashley didn't feel very good in the drive over to Hilo so we all felt a little of the pain as well. Finally, we arrived in Hilo and grabbed some diner at Pineapple Junction. The food was great. Tune Poke, seared scallops and the best buttered noodles in Hawaii according to Grace. Much to Katie's relief we learned they do sell swimsuits in Hawaii.
Aloha, to the blogdom.
Passion fruit infused IPA. It will cure what ails you!
Then it was on to Volcano House. This rustic lodge is actually tucked inside Volcanos National Park. Classic old school lodge, no TVs and no AC. The struggle is real. We dropped our bags and headed to the end of the trail Jagger Museum. From their we could view the lava lake at night. It was amazing! Primordial, Powerful, it was like a sneak peak into creation.
Bubbling lava coldren
Pele, godess of fire dancing.
A better view of the vent and the lava lake.
Yes, TB these photos are brought to you by the Big Lens.
After viewing the lava lake it was back to Volcano House for bed. This was delayed somewhat, because we needed to find a toothbrush for Katie since hers was resting comfortably by her sink. So far so good from the Big Island, Aloha.
Gorgeous pictures of the volcano, Scott! Love that you kids are going on some amazing adventures. Thanks for keeping us posted. Love you, and be safe. N and P
