The bus picked us up at 9:30 AM and after a brief 15 minute ride we were deposited at the harbor in Naxos City. Luggage out, driver tipped we began getting in line for our ferry. The first problem was that was not our ferry, the line was for the ferry going to Paros. OK we avoid that now let’s find the sign for our ferry. Well travelers at the port you better know how to read Greek or you better have a great cellular coverage so you can use Google translate otherwise all these signs are in Greek and it is up to you to figure it out. Ok we think we know what ferry is ours, we think we are in the right line things are going our way. Wait, let me put a screaming two year old boy behind you. What no child can yell at the top of his lungs for 45 minutes, sorry but you are wrong. Wait let’s give him a mom with a weirdly inconsistent leg thigh tattoo and lets challenge her to completely ignore this situation. Should we give her some unfiltered cigarettes, no that would be too much. Finally we streamed onto the ferry which didn’t even turn the motors off and like that Naxos was behind us.
This was on the ferry

Once we got on the ferry we struggle to find our seats in the choppy water. Grace was bounced into an old guys lap. He was not pleased with a little ginger dropping onto his lap. Ashley and Katie quickly found 2 of our 5 seats and began to relax. For Kari, Grace and I the struggle continued. It turns out some 20 something was seated in our seats, when confronted with this fact he insisted that he wanted to sit with his girlfriend. With the help of a steward, we communicate that was fine with us but not in our seats. His girlfriend proceeded to move up to her assigned seat. This dude milled around the isle like a stooge. He finally wandered off seduced by Frappuccinos and the sound of a power button going on and off
Finally some peace
Our girls are reading books. Not on their phones but reading books. 🙏🏻
After about 45 minutes on the ferry we arrive in Santorini. I did not realize how vertical the island is. We made our way from the harbor to our hotel the Canaves Oia Santorini. A beautiful hotel looking out towards the volcano 🌋 in Oia. We checked into our room which is a dug in-cave on the side of the mountain. It is dug into the compressed ash layer created by volcanic eruptions hundreds of years ago.

Santorini loves the donkey (CP). The donkey is known for its strength and for hauling difficult loads up the steep mountain side
The walk down from Oia to Ammoudi Bay. Steep, slick in spots, covered in donkey 💩 in spots but a beautiful walk from the top to the ocean.
