Zip lines, hanging bridges and cold showers

Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 started with an 8 AM departure from our hotel for a zip line and hanging bridge adventure.  A short car ride to downtown Boquete for a rendezvous at Boquete Tree Trek.  The girls grabbed some banana bread and we were off in our transport vehicle.  It took about 40 minutes to get to the canopy zip line from downtown Boquete.  Interestingly there was a family from Robbinsdale in our zip.  They did not know Robbinsdales’s illustrious mayor, Reagan.  Our conversation revolves around the weather and vacations.  Just a super nice family to spend 2 hours with.

Boquete zip line instructors were very strict about the zip rules and scolded me several times about my leg position.  10 zips  of the rainforest canopy and a mountains stream were quite enjoyable.

The screenshots are from the GoPro video Katie shot during our zip line adventure.

Hi, I am a dad!!

G-money are you that nervous to zip?

The moment before you hit your sister for bugging you too much in line.  Especially when you are 11, ill tempered and nervous.

Katie on the zip line.

A view from the zip.  Thanks for not looking at the caster the whole time KT.

Ashley pulling up on the line!!!

Goodbye Ashley.  G-Money is waiting at the other end to sock you one.

In this location there should be a picture of someone not completing their zip line and having to walk hand over hand to the platform.  That image has been radiated.  The individual involved plays a large role in logistics and should not be messed with.

We zipped into that little opening.

After the zip line we went on a hanging bridge tour with Luis.  It was really interesting looking for unique birds, animals and vegetation.  Luis was a really great guide.  The young German couple with us will probably reconsider whether having children is something they should be interested in or not.

Heading out on the hanging bridges

The girls are actually freezing in this photo.  One member of this family is always prepared.  With convertible pants from LL Bean that keep him warm in the mountains and make him irresistible to 20ish models at Zarha on Oxford St.

Go pro selfie 2.  G-money does not get the concept of time delay.

Tamale plant

Don’t eat this one Katie.  It is toxic

So artsy......so artsy......so artsy

Micro orchid

Another micro orchid .  I didn’t know there was such a thing until 5 minutes ago.

Girls by the waterfall

Enjoy a rainforest waterfall.....Enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!

After the Tree trek we returned to The Riverside Inn.  A warm shower would have been nice but a cool/cold shower is all anyone got that afternoon.  If you were wearing pants you were completely comfortable so you could enjoy a beer on the indoor deck.  It was too misty and windy to be on the outdoor deck.

For dinner we took a cab into Boquete and ate at RetrogGusto.  It was a great little Italian restaurant in the mountains of Panama.

This is the owner David.  Great menu and a great host.

Spaghetti boiled in beet juice

Risotto with smoked salmon and goat cheese

Trout with pesto sause and roasted vegetables.

By the time we left we were warm, full and tired.  Back to the Riverside Inn for bed.  Tomorrow we head to the beach 🏖.
