There was going to be a video of Ron having 94 meeting because April didn’t think March 31st was a real day but that is not possible because of copyright infringement. 😢
Luckily, I didn’t have 94 meetings , I had one and it involves me, the beach and a book.
The morning beach view. She is no April Ludgate.
The wind was really strong all morning which made reading and staying focused a little harder. Katie and her friends spent their time at the adult pool and in the hot tub. Grace, Kari and I kicked it on the beach. At lunch we enjoyed Poke and acia bowls. I still don’t even know what acia is but its value is somewhere between gold and platinum based on the cost of these bowls.
After lunch, Kari and Grace played bingo by the pool. I assessed our critically low levels of sunscreen and went for a walk on the beach.
I spent an inordinate amount of time watching kite boarders. I am personally disappointed in myself for not partaking during this vacation and hope I have the opportunity to right that wrong in the near future.
After my walk, I hopped on the bike and cruised to the California Lighthouse. It is named after the wreck of the US California which rested in the Caribbean not far from the lighthouse. Again I battled the wind as I attempted to bike in Aruba 🇦🇼.
The California Lighthouse.
The lighthouse was built in 1916. The lighthouse is located at the northwest tip or Aruba near Arashi Beach and the Sasariwichi Dunes. It is named for the USS California which sank near this location in 1910.
From the top of the lighthouse looking at the dunes and the Caribbean.
Through the chain links
Now I have to get down these stairs. 100 stairs up and 100 stair down.
The bike ride up was pretty fun. The young lady who takes your $5 dollars to climb to the top the lighthouse was impressed.
Lighthouse and a lensball? Is this cool?
One more from the ride back
From the lighthouse, I made my way to St. Ann’s church. Along the way I started following a heavier guy on an E-bike. So first of all he could not shake me I stayed in his draft for almost 1 mile. This must have upset him because at this busy intersection he just kind of roled through it. I have never seen anyone almost get hit 3 times by 3 separate cars at the same intersection. I decided he need to be dropped from the Peloton and I moved past home down the road. As I continued to ride, I came upon a scooter vs car MVC. I actually stopped to offer assistance but the Aruban police assured me this was not a big accident. Then the police let me ride through the accident scene, which saved me a ton of time.
I eventually arrived at St. Ann’s which I think is a beautiful Catholic Church.
St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The church can trace its history back to 1776. It has been rebuilt several times over the years. It is dedicated to St. Ann, the mother of the Virgin Mary.
There is suppose6 to be a beautiful carved retable and communion rail inside but I could not get in.
St Ann’s again
After that I busted tail back to the Hyatt. It was a great ride, down on the street up on the curb and through some construction. I got back just in time to see everyone leaving for dinner at Quinta De Carmen.
Prior to my return the HF crew
Quick change and a quick cab ride and I was there for another amazing meal with amazing people.
The family.
The moms and the daughters
The seniors
The queens
After a great dinner with a ridiculous number of Kentucky Mules it was back to the hotel for a nightcap and bed. The time we have is precious and we should think deeply about who we spend it with. In my analysis this has been time well spent.
One surprising things happened at the end of the night.
1. Someone texted. “Tequila shots are low key good.”
One more full day in Aruba with the wind and the ☀️
