Our plan was to walk around Melbourne first. We were going to hit the CBD (Central Buisness District) down to Flinder’s Street Station the across the Yara River to the War Memorial then backdown to the Yara River to eat at one of Melbourne’s floating restaurants. After that we would take a quick car ride out to Brighton Beach to see the beach and the beach boxes and the finally home for a restful afternoon.
Louise moves fast and talked fast. She was fantastic but it was probably not the best day to wear my flip flops.
My view for breakfast
Our walk. Very classic, gothic influenced architecture from around 1860s. Between a booming wool market and a gold rush, Melbourne was flush with cash and very much wanted to impress or get out of the shadow of London and England
Love these features on the building
Inside the first bank in Melbourne. Now a banking museum. Notice the gold leaf in the ceiling and the giant scales as well. Just a beautiful building
Giant scales are cool.
More classic buildings and the free trams around the city center

Bon Scott!!
Banksy art. Read up on this cat. He put a shredder in a picture frame so that after the art was purchased at auction , it would shredd the picture. Unfortunately or fortunately the shredder malfunctioned and only shredded 1/2 the picture

This view on this day is incredible.
Back across the Yarra River. Notice the floating restaurants behind the girls.
The Yarra River running through Melbourne. There is a crew team in the river getting in some work
Katie and I on the bridge
We stopped for a drink and a snack at one of the floating restaurants. The Aperol Spritzs and local beer were quite tasty on a hot day and the chips and burrata.

Down on the Yarra River.
From the river we took a brief, 20 min, car ride with Louise in her Mercedes V8 AMG to the Brighton Beach area of Melbourne. You can still take a 20 min tram 🚊 into the city but you get all these cool beach houses. You are also close to the beach and the famous and colorful “Beach Boxes.”

No this ia not a Hemsworth taking a selfie.
Louise dropped us off at the hotel and sped away in her V8. Excited because she was going to have another day with Team Anseth tomorrow.
Where do we go next Katie??
We return to Young and Jackson for 🍻 and salty snacks
This is “Chloe” the tasteful muse painting at Young and Jackson Pub. Originally on the first floor it can now be found on the second floor. Chloe was painted in painted in 1875 by Jules Joseph Lefebvre. It was transported to Melbourne because a surgeon, Dr. Thomas Fitzgerald purchased it. Henry Young bought it for the pub in 1883 for 850 guineas. Soldiers departing for World War I often stopped in the pub before departing believing her image brought them good luck. Some soldiers may have even letter home to her.
Ashley took a nap. (Smart) Katie and I wandered around and found Chinatown!!
On the way home we stopped at the Apollo Inn again. This time I tried a Blinker. It was great, but not as refreshing as a Hyde Park Swizzle.
The mural depicting the origins of Melbourne.
I just like this image of one building reflected within another building
Linder’s Street Station.
This is the gelato from the walk home. Vanilla with honeycomb in it 🤯 and chocolate. So good. 😇
Ok time for bed, tomorrow is the Yarra Valley. Can Louise handle a second day with Team Anseth? We will have to see.
