All roads lead home, I hope.

March 5th started as a rainy Monday in Cuzco.  The rain let up after breakfast.  We packed our bags and checked out at 9:30.  Everything was good no according to plan.

Here are some shots on our way to the market.

This archway dominates the scene as we head to the market

Through this archway and into the market

This cathedral of Santa Clara dominates the far side of the Plaza

Senora Garcia and Nil creates a scavenger hunt for the kids.  They were to go to the market and do the following.
  1. Find a fruit or vegetable they had never seen.  Ask the vendor for permission and take a picture with the vendor and the fruit.
  2. Find the strangest cut of meat in the market and as the vendor if we could take a picture with it.
  3. Find a young child in the market and ask them their name and age.  Have one member of the team video this interaction.
  4. Find someone selling cocca leaves in the market and ask them the importance of the cocca leaf 🍂 in their life
  5. Buy a newspaper.  #proofoflifeformegan.

Organizing the troops for the Scavenger Hunt.

Katie was on a different team of course so I had, Nellie, Derrick, Amara and Megan.  They all did a great job especially Megan asking the woman about the Cocca leaves .

The market

This market is crazy.  John is negotiating a big key chain deal behind me.

From the market we walked through the busy market streets.  We walked past groups of children I. Their uniforms heading to and from school.  Cuzco can be a very hectic city on a busy Monday morning.

From the market to Cuzco airport and on to Lima at some point in our lives.  Right now we have spent close to 8 hours in the Cuszco airport.  The plane we were suppose to fly to Lima in was struck by lightning on the way to Cuzco.  Wait 2 hrs report, wait 2 hrs report, wait 2 hrs report, wait 2 hrs and it is cancelled.

Theoretically the airline is getting our bags and putting us up at an airport we will take a flight to Lima in the morning and figure it out from there.  Our Delta connection may or may not get moved up so we will see what happens tomorrow.

When you have been at the Cuzco airport for close to 8 hours time passes slowly.

Our flight was finally cancelled.  Another night in Cuzco.  The airline put us up.  No one complained about the accommodations once we got there.

The Crew

We kept ourselves entertained in the ballroom until our rooms were ready

Dab it out

This place is nice.

Once we got settled, we had a little dinner.  Grilled trout and asparagus.  After that it is bed time.  We are back to the airport at 5 AM.  Once in Lima, we will see what happens

The adventure continues?
