A day of ups and downs

Wednesday, December 26th, 2018 was another divide and conquer day.  Kari stayed back at Fiss and delivered Abby and Grace to their ski lesson and relaxed around the spa.  Ashley was under the weather but trying to rally so she slept in and took hot showers.

Troy lead an expedition that included Lara, Elle, Sophie, Katie and me.  We were in the boot room by 8:30 and up the Blue gondola before 9 AM.  Up the blue gondola then ski down to the 8 person chairlift then up and down to another 8 person chair then down and up another gondola and down to another 6 person chair.  The sun was out and the snow was good so our morning was epic.

Katie learned that skiing in areas between the groomed trails was called skiing off pieste and it became one of her favorite things to do.  When she gets home we are going to look for some Warren Miller ski classics on Netflix.

In the end a pretty uneventful day no one cried too hard.  No one was injured.

Ashley and Kari got out and skied some of the runs near the hotel in the late morning so everyone was having fun in the sun.

The mountains are calling and we must go!! Right KT!

Sunrise in the Alps

The crews staring into the sun ready to launch.

These Americans have come to kick a$$ and chew bubblegum and we are all out of bubblegum.

Katie and I in the gondola to the top.

Out there is both Switzerland and Northern Italy.  Amazing!!!!

Art house B&W of the Alps.  Ansel would be proud of the effort.

A note from TB’s snapdom.

Not sure if this is a gopher or a marmot.  But hopefully the Golden Gophers can do some damage in Detroit.

Here is the metric according to TB’s ski pass.

Elsewhere these two were having fun as well.

This blue cheese rocks

I also enjoyed mass quantities of this cheese with a little honey.

Tenderly cooked saddle of young deer with raspberry curd

Roasted steak of Breton sea perch and ravioli stuffed with fennel and tomato.

Enough aready let’s get some sleep.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
