‘‘Twas the night before Christmas

December 24, 2018 started out as a snowy Monday.  The crew had purchased their rental gear and was ready to hit the slopes.  The breakfast buffet was legit. Pancakes, heart shaped waffles, fruit and omelets. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast and headed for the slopes.

The visibility wasn’t the greatest but the snow and the skiers were beautiful.

Up on the hill Troy and Elle may or may not be standing behind me.
Grace  and Abby at ski school with Shaka the instructor

More skiing in the snow.  Elle was so good she was in multiple photos

Katie and I riding the Gondola.

Dad you need to ski better!!! Your killing me out there smalls.

After about 1 hour of skiing we decided to shut it down due to the visibility.  From there we went back to the room and decorated the Christmas tree. Thanks Lara for this amazing find.

The tree and the stockings hung with care.

Now that we had that portion of the day squared away.  The girls went to the pool or to the room for a nap.  The adults went for a walk around Fiss.

Austrian Alps

The sun is coming out!!!

Can you make out the PIN number?

Scott this slot machine always pays out. This time it is in Euros.

More scenery.  Seriously stop.

LB, TB and KA rocking the alps

An ancient Austrian warning about losing your ski pass exists in Fiss.

Schloss against the mountain

Enough with the mountain.  If you’re going to show them at least take time to edit the photo.

As you can see the weather cleared off in the afternoon so TB, LB, SA and Elle B decided to make an afternoon run.

Up on the hill

So pretty.  That feels like an understatement.

Stop asking for pictures get me off this hill.  I am a danger to myself and orthers.  Elle and TB you are gonna love this photo.

Austria Alps and the setting sun.

Elle Butner is carving turns at sunset.

We survived down at the gondola.

Now comes the payoff.  There is a bar at the bottom of the run that plays a mixes of country, American rock, club house music all intermixed with German techno.

The bar met he minimum basic requirements. One, it had cold beer.  Two, they were willing to serve it to us.

This is how we roll in Austria.  Cheers.  Merry Christmas.

EB an TB living it up.

Elle does this count as Christmas Eve communion?

Skiing home for Christmas Eve dinner.

Sweet Christmas this tree has actual candles on it.

Merry Christmas to me

I do exist.

The Butners with Father Christmas.

The crew adults on the left and kids on the right.

We have now reached the food portion of this blog so feel free to skip down 3 photos

Red King Prawns

Irish beef and praised cheek

Assorted cheeses from the buffet.  The blue cheese in the middle is ridiculous

Sasha pouring the adults a whiskey from Austria aged for 3 years.

How the world looks after drinking 3 year old Austrian whiskey.

After dinner it was directly to bed.  We had to get to sleep before Father Christmas comes to deliver the presents.  Also we were tired and full.  Epic day in Austria 🇦🇹.
