Skagway, AK. Eagles and Bears

Our next stop was Skagway, AK.  We decide to split up on this day.  Mom went with Wendy, Keith and Marisa (my sister and her family).  They went on a train ride and visited a sled dog ranch.  They also ran across a brown bear wandering around the edge of town.  Wendy kept all the evidence of the bear, but I did see the photos.

The Anseths went on a nature hike and learned about the temperate rain forest.  It was an amazing hike.  Only part of the 30 mile trail early settlers had to move gear and food up and down the frontier.

After our hike, we floated back down the river to Skagway.  We saw several bald eagles and even a playful otter.

We grabbed a quick bite in town and then head out on a jet boat tour of the bay.  Lots spray, lots of waves, great waterfalls.  No one fell into the sea.  It was a pretty awesome ride.

The day ended with a couple of cold and frosty beers at the Skagway brewery.  The sign did say Spruce Ale would prevent Scurvy.
